What station statuses mean
When you tap a station in the Hypercharge app, it shows a status. Here’s what each one means and what to do about it.
Available
Section titled “Available”The station is online and ready to use. Go ahead and start a session — see Start and stop a charging session.
In use
Section titled “In use”Another driver is currently charging at this station. You’ll need to wait, or use a different station.
Under construction
Section titled “Under construction”The station has been installed but hasn’t been commissioned yet, so it isn’t available for use. It won’t show a price, and it can’t take a session.
This is normal for newly installed stations at a building — the electrical work, network connection and configuration all have to be completed before a station goes live.
There’s no way to speed this up from the app. If you need a timeline, contact your building’s property manager, who is coordinating the installation.
Out of service
Section titled “Out of service”The station has been deliberately taken offline — commonly for maintenance, an electrical problem at the site, or because the site owner has switched it off.
Use another station at the site if one is available. If every station at the site is out of service, it’s usually a site-wide issue that’s already known.
Unknown
Section titled “Unknown”The station has lost its connection to the network, so the app can’t confirm its current state.
Try this first:
1. Close the app completely and reopen it
The app may be showing a stale view. Fully closing and reopening it refreshes the status, and this resolves it in a good number of cases.
2. Try a different station at the same site
If neighbouring stations show as Available, the problem is limited to that one unit.
If the status stays Unknown, the station is genuinely offline and can’t take a session until it reconnects. Report it to support@hypercharge.com with the station ID, or call 1-888-320-2633.
Messages on the station itself
Section titled “Messages on the station itself”The station’s own screen or indicator may show something different from the app:
| Message | What it means |
|---|---|
| Blocked | Your account needs more than $1 to start a session. Top up in the app. |
| Unauthorized | You don’t have access to this station. It’s likely private — contact the building’s property manager. |
| Ready | The station is waiting for a session to be started. |
| Swipe RFID | The station is prompting for an RFID card tap. If you don’t have a card, start from the app instead. |
If the app and the station disagree
Section titled “If the app and the station disagree”Occasionally the app and the station show different things — for example the app says Available but the station won’t start a session.
Close and reopen the app first. If they still disagree, report it to support with the station ID and what each one is showing.
